Family Activities Support Volunteer

We have openings for volunteers interested in supporting family activities
We are hoping to recruit some more volunteers to support our Greener Futures family activities and work alongside Groundwork staff in various locations across Hastings. Some opportunities are regular weekly sessions, such as at Farley Bank on Tuesdays, and others are ad-hoc and flexible.

Conservation Volunteering @ The Bale House, Hastings Country Park
Join us in Hastings Country Park Nature Reserve to help with a variety of practical conservation tasks that benefit local wildlife and the people who visit. No experience is necessary and there are a variety of tasks during each session to suit your fitness level. Refreshments and tools are provided.
Fridays 10.30am – 1pm

Visitor Centre Volunteering @ The Bale House

We’re looking for volunteers to help out in The Bale House visitors centre in Hastings Country Park Nature Reserve. No experience or knowledge necessary! We are particularly looking for people to volunteer on Sundays for 2-3 hours, but there are volunteering slots to be filled throughout the week.

Woodland Management Volunteering @ Speckled Wood, Ore

Thursdays 10 – 12, and the first Saturday of each month, 10 – 1,

Join Ore Community Land Trust to take part in woodland management in Speckled Wood.  This group is led by John from the Ore Community Land Trust. Conservation Volunteering @ Combe Valley Nature Reserve
Join the Friends of Combe Valley on the third Saturday of every month 1-3, and every Thursday 10 -1 to help maintain the pathways and environment in Combe valley. Meet at the Discovery Centre Café in Freshfields.

Join the Friends of Summerfields Wood on the second or third Saturday of every month, 10 -1, to help maintain the environment in Summerfields Wood. Meet at Summerfields Leisure Centre.

ORE in Bloom are looking for Volunteers
Ore in bloom is a community group aimed at improving the horticulture in Ore , Hastings. We maintain street planters, display hanging baskets and annual bedding displays as well as running a gardening competition for Ore residents.

Hastings Woodcraft Folk are looking for volunteers
Tuesdays 5:30-6:30pm in Hollington
Woodchips (0-5), Elfins (6-9) & Pioneers (10-12) – Woodcraft Folk offers a place where children will grow in confidence, learn about the world and start to understand how to value our planet and each other. We need volunteers to help out at our weekly group nights where we play games and run activities.

We also need help with planning events and promotion if you prefer to be involved in that way.

Volunteer Gardeners Needed @ Veterans’ growth
Veterans’ Growth is a registered charity based near Westfield and provides horticultural therapy to veterans of the Armed Forces from our 5-acre, rural site.

We are looking for volunteers who can help by performing all types of horticultural duties. There is a relaxed atmosphere on-site and we will help you work to your strengths and develop your skills. All abilities are welcome – you do not need previous experience of gardening or the military.
Our volunteer days are Mondays and Thursdays and we generally operate from 9.30am – 3.30pm. Although these days are fixed, we can be flexible around hours/frequency of volunteering depending on your availability.
