Between 2022 and 2026 RVA’s Volunteer Hub team talked with hundreds of local young people at Bexhill College and Hastings College. To our delight, many of them are already volunteering. Below is a selection of what they told us about why they volunteer.
Volunteering boosts confidence, and helps people gain transferrable skills, it’s great for getting references, employers love seeing it on CVs too.
RVA is also working closely with Hastings and Bexhill College and the Job Centre Plus teams to encourage volunteering among young people and among other age groups who want to get job-ready.
We’re also working with local organisations to make it easier for them to take on volunteers aged 16-18 and with Tribe (East Sussex County Council’s Volunteering Platform) to create a space where young people can look for volunteering roles.
