Our Devonshire Road Hub

Welcome to the new virtual hub page where you’ll get the latest news and information about our new community and co-working space in Bexhill.

RVA, with Rother District Council and other partners, are transforming the former Edinburgh Woollen Mill at 34 Devonshire Road into a welcoming space for residents to access key services, join in with activities and events, and get information.

We hope to move into the hub in early 2027. Read the FAQs below for more information.

What is the hub?

The hub will be used by charities, community groups and individuals to deliver support and services to residents of Bexhill and from across Rother. It will also be used as an office/co-working space for RVA and VCSE partners. It will be a place where Rother’s VCSE organisations can access support, training and network with other organisations.

The hub will be occupied by RVA and Rother’s voluntary groups, charities and their wider delivery partners, who will use the space to deliver their services on a needs-basis. It will also be a co-working/hot desking/meeting space for Rother’s VCSEs.

We expect the work to be completed by early 2027. We will be holding an open day marketplace for the public and stakeholders to visit the centre during the renovation of the building.

There are many benefits for a central place that people can come to find out what’s happening in their community. Much of the work will be focused around RDC’s anti-poverty strategy that tackles health inequalities, loneliness and wellbeing.

The hub partners are developing the hub as a collaborative community space that will be available to Rother’s community groups, charities and wider delivery partners to offer events, services and activities.

The funding was part of the levelling up funding awarded by the previous government’s Department of Levelling Up, Communities and Housing (DLUCH – now called Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government). It was part of a £20 million investment awarded to RDC to be used directly on infrastructure projects that would help regenerate town centres and high streets, improve public transport or invest in cultural assets.

It is different funding from the 10 year Plan for Neighbourhoods (previously called the Long Term Plan for Towns) scheme.
