The annual Salehurst and Robertsbridge assembly is organised by the parish councillors and gives residents a chance to meet their locally-elected representatives and to find out what’s going on in the parish.
“It was a full house and everyone was buzzing”, said RVA’s Community Development Officer, Lesley Lambeth. “We were able to chat with councillors and tell people about what we’re doing locally. It was also a great chance to champion local groups like Robertsbridge Community Association, Little Gum Boots toddler group, Helping Hands, the Repair Café and the much-loved Robertsbridge lunch club to name but a few.”
Organisations were able to talk directly to locals about what activities they do and services they offer in the area. The highlight was networking over the buffet and wine donated by the Robertsbridge WI and the Wine Club.
Over the next few months RVA will be focusing on rural community work and supporting groups like the youth pizza nights run by Sussex Outreach Support, and other events, to really engage villages and rural areas.
Parish assemblies are a great way for RVA to meet and support local organisations and the communities they represent. If you’re hosting one in your parish, please let us know so we can come along and say hi.
