Independent Living Volunteer – Support at home in Rye and Battle areas

Commitment: Volunteers must be able to commit to 2 – 4 hours minimum per week, between the hours of 9am – 5pm, Monday – Friday for a minimum of 12 months

Age: 18 years+

What would I be doing?  

You will be helping provide practical and emotional support to people. Every individual will need different support from us to help, below are some examples of what you might support with:

  • Practical support such as light shopping for someone who has been discharged from hospital
  • Reconnecting people someone with their communities to help overcome loneliness
  • Helping someone connect with other organisations who can offer them support with their long-term health condition

To apply for this role you must hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle. Experience is not essential, but is preferred. Volunteers support Carers in the form of visiting once a week for 4 weeks to assist with emotional and practical support, which may include befriending, signposting, assisting with light duties such as shopping. Volunteers need to have the ability to communicate well, flexibilty and a caring non-judgemental outlook, as well as the ability to work as part of a team but also on their own.
