Recruiting to a new staff team in an exciting Community Project to Raise Awareness of the Signs and Symptoms of Cancer


Unique Improvements is a social enterprise with national experience of leading health and wellbeing community projects.  We are pleased to support the East Sussex Better Together Partnership to deliver the community-led cancer awareness programme in Hastings and Rother area.  The project started in October 2016 and will focus on developing community approaches to raise local awareness about the signs and symptoms of cancer, increase uptake of screening, and support people to seek help where needed.

To deliver the project we are recruiting a local staff team, based in St Leonards and are seeking applications from suitably experienced people.  We offer the following two year fixed term vacancies:

  • A Full time Project Co-ordinator – Salary £25,000 Plus pension, holidays and healthcare benefits. The successful applicant will manage a small staff team which will recruit, train and support, 8 community volunteer teams over the 2 years of the project. You will be responsible for the support and management of the staff team within corporate policies and procedures as well as recruiting, training and supporting the community volunteer teams. You will be responsible for monitoring and reporting progress on a monthly basis. All training will be given and you will work flexibly within the Hastings and Rother area.


  • 2 Vacancies Part time Project Workers (11 hours/week) Salary £17,000 (Pro rata). Plus holidays, pension and healthcare benefits.  The successful applicants will work from the base in St Leonards and, under the guidance of the Project Coordinator, will support the recruitment, training and support to community volunteer teams.  Each Project Worker will have specific responsibility for two or more community volunteer teams.


All posts will be based in the St Leonard’s area but will entail some travelling around the Hastings and Rother area.  All vacancies are open to secondment or job share.
