Rother District Council – Community Grants

Rother District Council’s Community Grants scheme aims to “pump prime” local voluntary and community organisations with developing community facilities, activities and sustainable local action in Rother.

The following grants are offered:

  • Small Grants – one-off grants of up to £5,000. The maximum grant will be limited to 50% of the total costs and local support will be required on the basis of at least 30% of the funding towards the project or scheme
  • Large Grants – of up to a maximum of £30,000. The maximum grant will be limited to 50% of the total costs

Grants can be used to help with the following types of projects:

  • Playing fields and sports facilities
  • Heritage and arts initiatives
  • Playgrounds
  • Community activities that promote social inclusiveness
  • Environmental improvements in towns or villages
  • Acquisition of public open spaces or woodland for conservation
  • Pre-school activities
  • Community transport
  • Rural car parks
  • Youth facilities and clubs
  • Village halls and community centres

Match funding of at least 50% is required. Applicants are encouraged to seek alternate funding from the parish or town council. Further funds can be raised locally, regionally or nationally.

Dates to be aware of during each financial year:

Round 1

  • Opens 1stApril
  • Deadline for receiving round 1 applications 31stJuly
  • Grants Panel meets in August to discuss applications and make recommendations
  • Cabinet meets in September to discuss recommendations from the Grants Panel

 

Round 2

  • Opens 1stOctober
  • Deadline for receiving round 2 applications 31stJanuary
  • Grants Panel meets in February to discuss applications and make recommendations
  • Cabinet meets in March to discuss recommendations from the Grants Panel
