Hastings and Rother Energy Month
Voluntary groups working in the area of energy saving across Hastings and Rother have come together and identified a number of issues and ideas.
The project is a month long focussed campaign of action that sets out to directly help local people take practical action to reduce energy usage/costs and keep warm now. It will combine existing available local resources and know-how (currently spread through various voluntary sector organisations) to maximise impact.
There will be a particular focus on the vulnerable and the “fuel-poor”
Aim to: Enrol other voluntary sector providers especially those offering advice such as the Citizens Advice Bureaux, HARC and to some extent Housing Associations. The hope was to break into the public consciousness and rise above the normal level of background noise.
The objectives were to:
- Help (fuel poor, vulnerable) households switch energy suppliers and reduce bills
- Keep Warm : Raise awareness with key front-line staff, community energy champions, voluntary sector Organisations on of how to keep warm (body) and reduce the incidence of cold related ill health.
- Encourage people to take energy saving measures at home at home (fuel poor, people at risk, general). Take One Energy Action (Pledge Campaign)
Energy Month will be anchored by a series of events (4-6) across Hastings and Rother.
Each event will be staged “exhibition” style and comprise of 4 zones.
