Secondment Opportunity (up to 2 years) – Senior Rough Sleeper Project Co-Ordinator

Salary: £50,000

Hastings and Eastbourne / Lewes Councils have been awarded funding of £664,000 to significantly reduce rough sleeping during winter 2018

A secondment opportunity has arisen for a Senior Rough Sleeper Project Co-Ordinator to mobilise and manage an exciting programme of innovative interventions, including a multi-disciplinary team of key professionals, new rapidly accessible temporary accommodation and Housing First units.

The secondment will be up to 2 years. The post holder will be aware of the range of support needs experienced by rough sleepers and have an excellent working knowledge of key statutory and voluntary sector providers. They will have a tenacious and assertive approach to transforming services for this vulnerable population group.

Rough sleepers often struggle to engage with key services and sustain accommodation due to experiencing multiple and complex needs. This role will be responsible for improving accessibility to services for rough sleepers, including:

  • Access to health, social care and other support services
  • Access to temporary accommodation
  • Access to long-term housing solutions

The Senior Rough Sleeper Project Co-Ordinator will be responsible for mobilising a multi-disciplinary team of health, mental health, substance misuse, social care and housing professionals.  They will develop a new Rough Sleeping Safety Protocol which will ensure service users are assessed holistically and that a multi-agency service response is tailored to meet the needs of individuals.

The post will manage an accommodation pathway, providing an enhanced temporary accommodation offer and access to long term housing solutions.  This pathway includes the development of new assessment units, providing immediate relief from rough sleeping and enabling the multi-disciplinary team to carry out a holistic assessment of each individual’s needs.  From here rough sleepers will be able to access a range of long term housing solutions, including 20 new Housing First units.  The Senior Rough Sleeper Project Co-Ordinator will need to ensure this new pathway is incorporated within existing service networks.

The Senior Rough Sleeper Project Co-Ordinator will be responsible for the overall performance of the programme to a multi-agency board.
