Bus on its Sunday route to Bodiam

Return of the Sunday bus to Bodiam

The Sunday bus from Hastings to Bodiam has been reinstated for the summer of 2017 due to the hard work and determination of a local member of the community.

Supported by RVA, Derrick Coffee, Campaign for Better Transport – East Sussex,  brought together a group of people such as 1066 Marketing (Hastings Borough Council and Rother District Council), National Trust from Bodiam Castle and Martin Woodfine of HATRIC to discuss the feasibility of reinstating the sunday bus from Hastings, through the villages of Sedlescombe, Staplecross, Sandhurst, Hawkhurst, and Bodiam and even into Cranbrook on certain days. We are pleased to say that with small amounts of investment from the partners, local parish’s and East Sussex County Council the bus is now running every Sunday until the beginning of September.  Early indications are that the bus is being used by local people as well as students from Pestalozzi and tourists.  If it proves popular it is hoped that the bus can be reinstated every Sunday in 2018.
