Developing and improving pharmacy services in East Sussex

Developing and improving pharmacy services in East Sussex

The Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment (PNA) that will be used to develop and improve pharmacy services in East Sussex until 2020 has now been published by the County Council. The PNA process has included analysing demographic details, health needs, current pharmaceutical service provision, surveying the public and other stakeholders, and running a public consultation on the draft version in May and June 2017.

The PNA concludes that currently there are sufficient essential pharmaceutical services provided within East Sussex. Recommendations for future development include: supporting national quality initiatives in pharmacies; improvements in pharmacists’ training; improving access to pharmaceutical services; and enhancing medicines optimisation services.
