A pilot project funded by the Tudor Trust
RVA is helping small isolated communities utilise their own local resources better to enable peple to have a coordinated approach to helping their neighbours and to fill any gaps in that network of care and so to put help within the reach of every resident.
Community Friends seeks local people in small local communities who are willing to volunteer a range of support to those who maybe in need of a helping hand or have problems accessing services due to living in an isolated rural community.
This might include:
- transport and lift clubs
- help in the home and garden
- minor repairs and gardening
- walking the dog
- helping with the internet
- collecting prescriptions
- helping filling forms
and just about anything else!
The project links local need with local volunteers to improve the quality of life for the most vulnerable.
So far we have schemes running in Tilling Green, Rye; Robertsbridge; Netherfield; Sedlescombe; Playden; Rye Memorial; Bodiam; Camber; East Rye and Ashburnham and Penshurst.
